free love
I guess it's been a few months since my last rant and/or rave. Here's a FREE song for yinz guys to download, from me to you. Quaker Vs. Indian - This is one of the last tunes by my former band, Life on the Sun. It's a great tune we used to play live, it took me 4 years to record the vocals, just call me Axl. Go to my music page and click download on the player.
Also, our 2005 EP Shine Through can now be downloaded for FREE at thesixtyone.com/andyscottmusic
On a side note, AntiMatterSky is no longer a band. The reasons for the demise remain unexplained to me. It seems like somebody said, "I'm taking my ball and I'm going home", and nobody else felt like continuing the game. Bummer? Not really... As a friend told me, "It was broken before you got there."
Lastly, here's a pic of my latest 6 string creation, still contemplating selling it or using it as my "bash around the stage" guitar....if I ever make it back to a stage :)

acoustics at the Paseo Club
Come see Hope and me play an acoustic set at the Paseo Club in Valencia. It'll be on Friday, April 2nd at 7PM-ish. Bring your smiley faces. Food, Bar and Free Admission. What else do you want, a ride? jeeeeeez!

new videos - apparently I love dogs
I posted this one on youtube a few weeks ago, an Alice in Chains song called "Nutshell". That's my boy Joopiter grooming his hind quarters.
Here'a a new one, featuring Hannah the Scottie. She's a star, no doubt. The tune is Chasing Mother Nature from my latest offering, Fire at High Sea. The other dogs are locals from Santa Clarita, contact me if you see your dog, I'd be more than happy to give 'em credit!
In other news, the Paseo Club show has been moved to Friday, April 2nd. Hope and I are going to check out Mark Castrillon tomorrow night.
And if you like Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age, you must hear Them Crooked Vultures, it's grotesquely creative. You might've seen them on SNL the other night.
make an album
Musicians of Santa Clarita Valley, if the idea of putting together an album excites you, then contact me. I'm looking for musicians and singers who need a little guidance in putting together the whole package - music, art and web. Click here or the icon to the right for more info.
Farewell to the Cage, a local music haven in Indiana, Pennsylvania. I rented the Cage with a few friends back in 2000 and 2001. Countless albums were recorded there, including A Million Daydreams, my first solo project. Since then, it's been a great place to go see live music in Indiana. I never made it back, now it's being repurposed by the owners. Read the front page article written about it. Underground Music Venue to Close

On the bright side, Hope and I will be playing a show at the Paseo Club in Valencia on Friday March 12th at 7pm. It'll be an acoustic set including material from Shadow of Me. More details later.
Enjoy this video by film student Steve Hwang, I thoroughly enjoyed this. FRUIT IN LOVE don't cry, it's just fruit.
2010
Yay! This year can't be as bad as last. So here's to you and yours, to hopefully jump on that uptown train sometime in the next 12 months, and if ya don't, to keep that head above water.
I wanted to thank the people who downloaded my album, this doesn't work without you. Recommend it to a friend, tell them that they're helping to put food in my dog's belly. Every single download is appreciated :)
I'm trying to make this site a cool place to hang out - listen to some tunes, chuckle here and there, learn something new. If you have any suggestions to make this a better site, please email me at soniceye47@hotmail.com
I'm planning on producing more artwork this year, prints and originals will be for sale. I'll be sure to bug you about it later.
And if you're a band or singer in Santa Clarita, I want to help you make an album, ASK ME HOW.
I just finished mastering Hope's new song Unsteady as You Go. It sounds pretty killer. Now go bug her about hearing it. myspace.com/hopehorner
Here's a video I put together from clips of recording sessions.
Oh, and uh, better late than never, Merry Xmas!
see and hear
Hope put together a video using How Long Till We Move On? from Fire at High Sea. It's cool, check it out here.
And if you haven't noticed already, I have a new fancy shmancy portfolio page, it's interactive! Ooooooooo...
10 word review Cursive: Burst and Bloom EP (2001) Lyrically unique, soft/loud, noisy guitar + cellos = three thumbs up.
Here's a bunch of :) for the rest of the week :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
behind the scenes
Hope and I are working on a song called "Unsteady As You Go". As we record the tracks, we've been rolling video, too (albeit with not-so-state-of-the-art cameras. Donations anyone? Handouts? You gonna eat that?). Ummagumma post some clips as we document the process in the studio. For now, see how Hope's Chihuahuas enjoy her new song.
And check out this review of Hope's Shadow of Me at altcountryforum.nl, well only if you speak Dutch. Visit Hope at Reverbnation.com for the translation.
Review of the week in 10 words or less Mogwai: The Hawk is Howling (2008): Instrumental, tense, intense, ambient, average first impression, now? Deep affection.
Send me your suggestions!
Rockin out to some Priest, "IIIIIIIIIIIIII CCCAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNN' T GO ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Youtube vids, kids!
If you're really perceptive, you probably already noticed the little youtube icon thingy to the right. Clicking it will take you to my youtube channel. At the moment there's a few Life on the Sun clips, along with the "Kings of Fall" video shot by Auberon Entertainment, Inc. More clips coming!! I'm so cereal you guys!
Had a great time in Hermosa Beach seeing Magnatone play. They're into stuff like Pixies, Elvis Costello, the Smiths. Most of their set were originals Visit them at myspace.com/magnatonemusic
OK, get back to work.
2 New albums available & I need your suggestions :)
Fire at High Sea is available on cdbaby.com, itunes, and eventually, if you use an online music store you'll be able to find me. But careful, there's another Andy Scott who does some jazz, but I'm the cooler Andy. Beware of the evil Andy, or am I the evil Andy?
Same with Hope Horner's Shadow of Me. It's available for download AND cd purchase. I play on the majority of the tracks. Recommended if you like Sheryl Crow, Annie Lennox or Mary Chapin Carpenter.
I wanted to say that I am grateful for each download. In this bountiful and fruitful year of 2009 (sarcasm, duh!) we're all doing everything in our power to bring in some extra income. I am no exception. Your support is appreciated, redeem your free hug with album purchase.
I'm planning on putting together "how-to" videos for musicians and artists. Anything from gear reviews, mods, recording techniques, painting techniques. I just need your input on what you want to hear. contact me
skeletons to bury
Sometimes you finish a project that, at that time, was the best you could do. Now you look at it and are kinda embarrassed by it. DO OVER! I recorded a bunch of songs in 2002 that became the first project called Life on the Sun. In hindsight, the mixes are kinda strange sounding. I've been wanting to re-do them, so it's now or never. No additional recording is being done, just remixing. Takes me back to good ole' 2002. good times.
Fire at High Sea news - after checking through the cdbaby website, they give a 2-4 month window in which the digital distribution process is complete. In other words, it won't be available until November or December YAY!!!!! Just a heads up if you're going the same route as me. So clear your minds, forget I even mentioned it so I can re-hype it in 2-4 months. - erase erase erase -
Oh yeah, happy b-day, Colin. I don't know this date is etched in my brain........this one's for you. THE COUNT CENSORED
did I mention I was an artist?
I'm working on some new pieces that I'm hoping to show locally. Acrylic paintings for the most part, bigass pencil drawings. I'll post some pics on the art page, right now the link connects to my music graphics portfolio. Maybe some in progress shots would be cool, too. Waddyathink?
On the commercial art front, I'm looking to build a website at a discount, because I'm new to web design. Contact me if you need something done. Check out Freakflagstudios.com, my music graphics website, as another example. I'll give you a great price. buy buy consume advertise
And I just have to share that last night I saw Sunny Day Real Estate perform in Hollywood. For me, that's kinda like the Beatles reuniting, uh, and returning from the dead.
Since my goal for this site is to act as a meeting place of sorts, I'm gonna simul-blog with facebook and myspace to try to hit the most eyes. In the meantime, rock out with this lesser known QOTSA tune.
Two new projects completed
Hope Horner's debut full length Shadow of Me is done! You can check her out at http://www.myspace.com/hopehorner to hear the tunes. CD's will be available in Late October at cdbaby.com and downloads available through their digital partners - iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic to name a few. I'm happy with these mixes, they're probably the best I've been able to produce. I played on the majority of the album - guitars, bass, drum loops - replacing most of the samples she used from Jamstudio.com. Working with Hope is great, productive and drama free, so we're looking forward to working on her next project.
Fire at High Sea is in the can. This past weekend I remixed and remastered it. My first instrumental/imaginary film score will also be available sometime in October. Now I just need somebody to make a movie to it. It will be my first album available at your online music store - iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic, etc. I'll blog more about it later, at the time being you can learn more about it at http://www.myspace.com/fireathighsea
