Andy Scott Music About Andy

a little about andy

Growing up in Clymer, Pennsylvania, you learn that farmland can be pretty but quite isolating. The silence was deafening, so art and music filled a void. My 13th Xmas brought an electric guitar. That pesky Rock N' Roll music crept in soon afterwards. Years later I found myself in Art School studying artists like Rick Griffin and Storm Thorgerson - creators of some of the weirdest (and coolest) images in music.

A Million Daydreams (2001), my first solo recording, was recorded in a former bomb shelter in Indiana, PA known as The Cage. It was a crash course in songwriting, playing all of the instruments myself. Tension was the focus, ranging from heavy churners to delicate acoustic pieces.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2001, I eventually met a band called Los Blips. We bonded over our common Pixies obsession, even covering a few songs later on. I produced the EP Valley and Sound in 2002, we played around town, made great big noise and became jolly and fat.

In 2003 I finished a group of songs that would lead to the formation of a band, LIfe on the Sun. Kenny Grossman produced Shine Through in 2005. Later that year Auberon Entertainment offered to shoot a video for Kings of Fall. We agreed under the condition that they buy us lunch. We played some interesting shows and kept recording. Then we got sick of each other :)

Fire at High Sea (2009) came from the desire to score a film. Well, no film, no big deal, right? It was written and recorded in a 5 week span. The idea was to inspire a daydream in the listener; here's the music, let it tell you a story.

At about the same time, I was working on Shadow of Me with Hope Horner. She needed a producer and session musician. We're currently working on her follow up, tentatively entitled Sooper Dooper Party Pooper. Heh heh, well she'll think it's funny anyway.

At the moment, I'm looking for some good folk who like to make some big noise. I'm currently living in Santa Clarita, CA. It's lovely here :) Wally World is just down the road.
